Ray Guichard
Painter |
Ray Guichard, a painter of watercolors, has developed a style of realism
using mostly “dry brush” techniques. He is currently creating black-and-white
landscapes and assorted nighttime scenes. His work conjures memories
of quiet winter walks on frozen, moonlit nights. His forest scenes
blend the familiar with the not-so-familiar “surprises” that he often includes
in his art. While sometimes whimsical and light-hearted, one can
feel the mystery of the night in each piece.
Ray is a native of Seattle, WA, but began his painting career in the Portland, OR area. His subjects, varying from landscapes to portraits, all display a similar photographic quality which shine through his black-and-white and his color paintings. He spent his earlier days displaying his work at the Vancouver Farmers’ Market and other local retail outlets. He became known for his realistic renditions and earned numerous commissions, including portraits, and a series of paintings of luxury homes for a developer. He received a 2nd place award in Semi-Professional Water Media for a portrait of a child entered at the Clark County Fair (one of the largest fairs in the Portland area). His work can be seen at the Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, WA. Click HERE to see ray'swork.
